Jurassic Park Timeline
The Complete Jurassic Park Timeline
The Jurassic Park franchise spans decades of in-universe history, from InGen's first genetic experiments to a world where dinosaurs roam free. Understanding the timeline helps connect the events of all six films and the expanded universe.
The lexicon in World of Jurassic Park connects game events to this timeline.
The InGen Era (1980s-1993)
In the mid-1980s, John Hammond founds InGen and begins extracting dinosaur DNA from amber. By 1988, the first dinosaurs are successfully cloned on Isla Sorna (Site B). Construction of Jurassic Park on Isla Nublar begins, and by 1993, the park is nearly ready for its grand opening. The disastrous preview visit — and Dennis Nedry's betrayal — leads to a catastrophic system failure. Multiple deaths force the evacuation and permanent closure of the park.
The Wild Years (1997-2001)
In 1997, an InGen expedition to Isla Sorna ends in disaster, culminating in a T. Rex loose in San Diego. In 2001, Dr. Grant's ordeal on Isla Sorna with the Spinosaurus and intelligent Pteranodons further demonstrates that these islands cannot be controlled.
The Jurassic World Era (2005-2018)
Masrani Global acquires InGen and builds Jurassic World, which operates successfully for over a decade before the 2015 Indominus Rex incident. In 2018, Isla Nublar's volcano erupts. Rescued dinosaurs are released into the wild on the American mainland.
The New World (2022 and Beyond)
Dinosaurs now live alongside humans globally. The events of Jurassic World Dominion explore this new reality. In World of Jurassic Park, you live in this timeline — navigating a world forever changed.
